PREPARE YOUR NEXT STEP
Job application checklist
Use this checklist for one application at a time. Your progress stays in this browser on this device; it is not sent to Waypoint.
1. Decide whether the role fits
Read the complete employer posting before spending time on the form. Separate required credentials from preferred experience. A similar title can describe very different duties.
2. Prepare accurate examples
Choose a real example for two or three duties in the posting. Describe the situation, your action and the outcome. If you are changing careers, explain the transferable task rather than giving yourself a job title you have not held.
3. Verify the destination
Find the employer through an independent search and compare its official careers page with the posting. A familiar logo alone is not verification. Pause if the application asks for payments or unrelated sensitive information.
4. Plan the follow-up
Record the role title, employer, date, destination and next step in your own notes. Use the employer's stated timeline. For an interview, bring questions about training, supervision, scheduling and how performance is assessed.
Make a requirement concrete
| Posting says | Prepare or ask |
|---|---|
| Customer communication | A real example of clarifying a question and resolving it. |
| Flexible schedule | Ask which days, notice period and minimum hours this means. |
| Training provided | Ask about training length, schedule, location and any prerequisites. |
