Job description
First Class Gear CutterManufacturing business in Rockland is looking for an experienced First Class Gear Cutter, capable of setting up and operating gear cutting machinery. Will be responsible for setting up and running gear cutting machines to produce precision gears.Responsibilities:Set up and operate manual gear cutting machines (hobbing, shaping)Set up and operate CNC gear cutting machinesRead and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and gear specificationsSelect appropriate tooling, cutters, feeds, and speedsPerform gear cutting operations including hobbing, shaping, and finishingInspect parts using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gear inspection equipment)Maintain tight tolerances and ensure conformance to specificationsAdjust machine offsets and tooling as neededPerform routine machine maintenance and troubleshootingDocument production data, setups, and inspection resultsQualifications:2–5+ years of experience in gear cutting or precision machiningExperience with both manual and CNC machinesAbility to read blueprints and understand GD&TKnowledge of gear types (spur, helical, bevel, spline)Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detailExperience with gear hobbing and shaping machinesCNC programming or editing (G-code)Experience with gear inspection tools (gear tooth micrometers, lead/profile testers)Understanding of metallurgy and cutting tool materials*Attention to detail is critical*Excellent benefits for this permanent, direct hire opportunity!
