Job description
Production Machine Operator / Filler OperatorJoin a leading food and beverage manufacturer as a Production Machine Operator / Filler Operator. In this role, you'll operate packaging and filling equipment used to package dairy products, monitor product quality, perform basic machine adjustments, and ensure production runs safely and efficiently.This opportunity is ideal for candidates with experience in manufacturing, production, machine operation, packaging, food production, assembly, or warehouse environments. Training is provided for motivated candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and production experience.ResponsibilitiesOperate filling and packaging equipment used in dairy production.Monitor product quality, verifying seals, labels, weights, dates, and package appearance.Perform routine machine adjustments and changeovers as needed.Remove defective products and ensure quality standards are met.Record production information and quality checks throughout the shift.Monitor product flow and equipment performance.Communicate equipment issues and production concerns to supervisors.Maintain accurate production documentation.Follow food safety, quality, and sanitation procedures.Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.Essential SkillsPrevious manufacturing, production, or machine operating experience.Experience monitoring automated or semi-automated equipment.Strong attention to detail and quality standards.Basic math and computer skills.Ability to follow written procedures and production specifications.Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.Preferred QualificationsFood manufacturing or beverage production experience.Packaging, bottling, filling, labeling, or machine operation experience.Quality inspection experience.Experience documenting production metrics or quality checks.Familiarity with GMP, food safety, or sanitation procedures.Why Work Here?Contract-to-hire opportunity with long-term career growth.Medical, dental, and vision benefits upon permanent hire.401(k) available.Opportunity for advancement into higher-level operator and lead positions.Stable employer with a strong team environment.Ongoing training and skill development.Work EnvironmentRefrigerated food production facility.Fast-paced manufacturing environment.Exposure to dairy products and common food allergens.Team-oriented workplace focused on quality, safety, and productivity.PPE required in designated production areas.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.50 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
