School Crossing GuardDC Bilingual has an immediate opening for a part-time School Crossing Guard who will monitor and maintain student safety in crosswalks and street intersections.Schedule2, 2-hour shifts per dayMORNING: Monday-Friday 7:00 am - 9:00 amAFTERNOON: Monday-Thursday 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm and Friday 12:00 pm -2:00 pm.QualificationsMust be physically able to stand for long periods in extremes of heat and coldMust have good vision, hearing, and mobilitySense of responsibility for the safety of students and their familiesExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population, and commitment to continuous quality improvement and customer service are required.High school diploma or GED required, Associate's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college preferredAdhere to the No Nonsense Nurture expectations for managing student relations and behaviorsMeet all expectations as outlined by the DC Bilingual Leading and Learning FrameworkAbide by the DC Bilingual's Super 7 Agreements, Community Engagement Principles, and CodeBilingual in Spanish preferred but not requiredPrimary Responsibilities : The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed in this position. It is not, however, a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required.Direct or escort families crossing the street and school driveway on the sidewalk, stopping traffic as necessary; guide or control vehicular or family traffic at street; monitor traffic flow to locate safe gaps through which families can cross the street.Direct students to assure conformance to traffic regulationsReport traffic hazards and flagrant traffic violations to leadership using a provided two-way radioMust wear provided traffic safety and control gear and work requires employees to stand, walk and use arm/hand signals, whistles, and voiceObey traffic flow and conditionsWait for natural breaks, or create effective breaks, in traffic to move pedestrians safely to/from the school and their mode of transportationCommunicate traffic and crossing rules and other information to students and adultsOther duties as assigned
