Job description
School Crossing GuardPrimary Function: Direct traffic and assist students across the street in a safe and orderly manner.Compensation Salary Range: $ - $ Minimum Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalentAbility to complete crossing guard trainingAbility to stand and walk for long periods of time, including in bad weatherSufficient strength, agility, dexterity, and oral and written communication skills required to perform all performance responsibilities.Performance Responsibilities:Complete school crossing guard training provided by the School DivisionDirect traffic in a safe and orderly mannerAssist students at crosswalks to assure their safetyMonitor students entering and leaving intersections/crosswalksMonitor traffic in crosswalk zone and surrounding areaReport student/motorist safety infractions as directedWork effectively with public and school officials on transport and safety mattersAct in a professional manner exhibiting a positive image in dealing with students, parents, and school division personnelAttend workshops and safety meetings as directedReport personal absences to supervisor allowing sufficient time to secure a substitutePerform other related duties as assigned by Bus Driver Lead, Manager of Transportation Services, and Principal of school(s) servedReports to: Bus Driver - Lead. Each guard shall be directly responsible to the principal of the school(s) served on matters related to student discipline and patron relations.Terms of Employment: 180 days per school year.
