Job description
Project Design InternProject Design Interns quickly become involved in the day to day design activities at Tippmann Construction. They team directly with their mentor and work closely with the Tippmann Construction Design Team, Sales, Estimating, Project Management, and Leadership teams during the sales cycle and the construction process. They are responsible for being one of the key resources focused on developing site and facility solutions, drafting options, incorporating project design needs, assisting with project planning and cost estimations, and presenting the options to Tippmann Leadership.Core Responsibilities:Work with the Tippmann Construction Design Team and Sales Leadership to understand the clients business, operational processes, and their facility design needs and wantsTranslate business requirements into the site and facility design options for the impacted stakeholdersUtilize CAD, 3D Modeling, and BIM tools to develop detail site and facility designs, insuring designs meets all stakeholder needs and wantsAssist in providing the correct information to Estimating for the purpose of developing project costs, including optional designs, alternates, and allowancesWhen requested by the customer or Design Team member, modify design options and drive resolution on open design elements and issuesSupport Tippmann Project Management teams throughout the construction processOther duties as required by the projectSkills and Capabilities:Progressing toward a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Engineering and Technology, Construction Management, Computer Graphics Technology or related degreeProficiencies with AutoCad or related drafting technologyUnderstanding and experience with 3D Modeling and BIM conceptsStrong internal and external communication and presentation skillsDemonstrated leadership in driving decisions among a team of individualsTrack record of positive job/school performance, attention to detail and results-oriented experienceSelf-starter, highly motivated and require limited supervisionProficiency with the MS Office suite of products including MS ExcelUnderstanding of industrial facility and site design including architectural, mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and equipment layout preferredKnowledge of the Food Processing and Distribution industry preferredOther:Position is paid.Position based at the Tippmann Group Corporate office in Ft. Wayne, IndianaOccasional travel to project locations may be requiredExpense program for eligible travel, meals, and lodgingThe candidate must pass a pre-employment background and license check
