Job description
This Assistant District Engineer position with the Virginia Department of Transportation provides management, leadership, and technical direction for assigned engineering sections in roadway and transportation design projects. The role involves supervising team members, managing budgets and consultant projects, performing engineering reviews, and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure projects meet schedules and performance measures. The incumbent serves as responsible charge engineer and provides training and development to staff while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.
Key qualifications
Valid Professional Engineer's license
Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Extensive knowledge of roadway design criteria, construction methods, standards, and specifications
Leadership and project/program management experience
Ability to supervise staff, programs, and budgets
Proficiency with computers, engineering software, and CADD applications
