Job description
Machining OperatorAstemo Rock Spring, Inc. was established in 2000 and supplies aluminum knuckles to Honda and Subaru. We are located in Rock Spring, GA, and operate on 3 shifts with 400 employees. We have three main manufacturing departments, Casting, Machining, and Press Assembly. We are part of Astemo, inc. with 90,000 employees worldwide.Tasks and Responsibilities:Visual quality check of raw cast aluminum productsVisual quality check of machined aluminum productsLoading of raw cast aluminum product into manual CNC machineUnloading of machined product from CNC machineLoading conveyor with machined aluminum productsEnd of shift area clean up – or as neededMust be able to work where needed in the machining departmentMust be able to support other departments as and when neededAssist any line leaders, supervisors, managers in other tasks assigned.If all these tasks are complete you are to report for additional work to the immediate supervisor.When accomplishing tasks, remember to work toward meeting overall company goals established which include, OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, Ethical & Legal compliance, Customer Quality, Production to Plan, and Delivery Performance.Safety & Environmental:Promotes a safety first attitude and provides safe work environment by obtaining knowledge and then following all required OSHA regulations which may or may not include: Personal Protective Equipment, LOTO (lock out tag out), Crane, Powered Lifts, Machine Guarding, Chemicals, Fall Protection, Fire Protection, Incident reporting, Respirator, Hearing conservation, Confined Spaces, and others.Maintain work areas to ensure safe and clean working conditions.When possible correct unsafe work conditions immediately.Quality:Ensures the in process and the final product meets customer and Astemo Rock Spring quality specifications.Follows work instructions, point cards and communicates defects appropriately and immediately when quality issues occur.Follows the STOP, CALL, WAIT proceduresDelivery :Responsible for completing the planned production quantities as required.Productivity:Achieves the planned production quantities as required by: Communicating issues to the line lead or supervisor immediatelyFollowing work instructionsWorking as a team and promoting teamworkPreventing interruptions to work flow and productivitySuggesting improvements to productivity, quality, safety etc.Reporting:Reports safety incidents or near misses, issues with equipment or quality concerns, and workflow interruptions.Reports monthly "Ask Here" to help make Hitachi Astemo Rock Spring betterPreferred Skills:Good problem-solving abilitiesExcellent communication skills, able to build friendly work relationshipsFamiliar with manufacturing concepts, practices, and proceduresMinimum Experienced Preferred:Preferred 2 years of experience with forklift operations.Key Metrics Responsibility:Zero Safety IncidentsZero Customer Quality defectsZero Late DeliveriesPerfect AttendancePhysical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use hand to finger; handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
