Job description
Warehouse JanitorPrimary responsibility is cleaning of the distribution center (75% of duties). Perform routine cleaning including vacuuming; sweeping, and mopping floors; dusting, washing walls, doors, and windows, and emptying trash. Perform minor preventative maintenance and minor repairs. Assist service personnel as needed. Reports major repair and maintenance needs. Assist with snow removal.Core ResponsibilitiesEnsures that location has all of the needed janitorial equipmentOperates floor scrubberSweeps and vacuums dock platesSweeps and mop sanitation barriersEmpties trash bins from all locations in the cooler, grocery and loading dock, offices and break areasEmpties cardboard and plastic recycling and compactsKeeps all areas free of debris such as wood fragments, pallet wrap, labels, and paperRemoves empty pallets and clean and mop slotsDiscards leaking product and records on reconciliation logReports any violation of company policy to supervisor or leadPerform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safety Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for locationPerforms other duties as assigned.Education/Certifications:· High School Diploma/GED and/or equivalent related experienceExperience:· Warehouse/Operations/Manufacturing experience preferredKnowledge/Skills/Abilities· Understanding of Safety guidelines· Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and mop· Understanding of procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes· Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.Onsite Role:· This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations, such as a distribution center or office.Travel (minor):· This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.Physical Environment/Demands:Warehouse Roles:· Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.· Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation.· Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.· Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.· Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.
