Job description
POAM Comm SpecUnder the supervision of a Communications Supervisor, the purpose of this position is to receive requests for police, fire and emergency medical assistance from the public and dispatch these requests to the appropriate agencies.Education: High school diploma or equivalent.Experience: Data entry and computer use experience preferred; prior work experience with public safety dispatching desired.Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license.Must maintain performance certifications and minimum training standards required by State and Federal guidelines.Within 24 months from date of hire, shall complete Module Two, a 40-hour telecommunicator training course approved by the State 9-1-1 Numbers Committee.Must complete Michigan LEIN operator training.Maintain LEIN/NICI fingerprint clearance.Pursue continuous professional development for current trends in communications/dispatch and emergency service practices.
