911 Dispatcher/Telecommunicator - LATERAL ONLYChelsea, AL, USAHiring range is 22.63 to $25.75 per hour depending on qualifications & shiftHourlyFull TimeShelby County 911 offers an excellent benefits, including health and dental coverage, paid vacation, sick leave, and we participate in the Alabama Employee Retirement System.The Shelby County Emergency Management Communications District (Shelby County 911) is seeking experienced, professional, and motivated individuals for lateral transfer opportunities as 911 Telecommunicators.Our Telecommunicators perform a variety of telephone and computer-aided operational duties, including 911 call taking and dispatching of law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services. We also assist the public with routine non-emergency and business-related calls.This posting is intended for candidates with prior public safety communications experience who are looking to continue their career in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Experienced Telecommunicators will find this an opportunity to make an immediate impact while supporting the citizens of Shelby County and partnering with our field responders.To be successful, you must be able to make sound decisions quickly, take control of conversations, obtain accurate information from callers, enter data while actively communicating, properly prioritize emergencies, determine the appropriate resources to send, and maintain accurate records.Candidates must have prior experience as a 911 telecommunicator/dispatcher and be able to meet all or some of the certification and training requirements established by the agency.Continue your career in emergency communications-join Shelby County 911 as a lateral Telecommunicator.
