nGeneral Summary:
nThe Academic Advisor III is part of the Advising Services team and is expected to assist with all advising and registration activities within Advising and Transfer Services. This adviser will serve as the Terry B. Rogers College of Education and Social Sciences liaison and assume primary responsibility for regular communication with undergraduate students, faculty advisors, and administrators. The primary caseload (250-300 students) will include newly admitted freshmen and transfers majoring in programs under TRBCoESS. Responsibilities include developing remediation plans, collaborating with other academic support departments for identified students, and facilitating assessment of programming provided. This adviser coordinates the University Early Program, geared toward supporting students identified by faculty as needing connections to resources to complete courses successfully. Developing and maintaining communication with all shareholders, and facilitating communication with students, will be expected.
nResponsibilities:
nnnProvides academic advice and guidance to students.
n
nnAdvises undergraduate students with fewer than 45 earned hours and new transfers in CoNHS.
n
nnSubmits course substitutions, add/drops, and change of curriculums.
n
nnApproves, establishes, and monitors student probationary terms.
n
nnServes as the Early Alert Coordinator; develops communication plans to educate stakeholders regarding the program.
n
nnManages the case load of early alerts received during semesters and assesses the program procedures, policies and effectiveness.
n
nnAssist with all New Student Orientation events.
n
nnAssists with training and development for faculty advisors.
n
nnDevelops remediation plans and efforts to assist at-risk student populations. Includes collaboration with departments in CoNHS to connect students to appropriate services.

nnAssessment of programming and retention of identified student population
n
nnMaintains 100% compliance with timely completion of required System, University and job-specific online training courses.
n

n nNecessary Qualifications:
nnnBachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
n
nnOne (1) year of related experience in advising and recruiting.
n
nnCollege-student facing service as a peer leader, student employee, or similar experience.
n
nnExperience in academic support for secondary and/or college-level students.
n
nnFamiliar with higher education student information systems.
n
nnAbility to multitask and work cooperatively with administrators, faculty, students and parents.
n
nnAbility to present information clearly and concisely.
n
nnAbility to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
n
nnExcellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
n
nnProficiency in using Excel, Word, and database applications.
n
nnExperience taking courses or facilitating online courses.
n
nnWill assist with all new student orientations and prospective visits for student athletes.
n
n nPreferred Qualifications:
nnnMaster’s degree.
n
nnFour years of related experience in academic support for secondary and/or college-level students.
n
nnCommunication development for print or web design as an instructional tool.
n
nnHas worked with CRM software to manage communication and develop communication plans.
n
nnEffective communication and time management to meet in-person and online learners’ appointment needs.
n
nnCareer coaching and/or familiar with learning and career assessment tools.
n
nnExperience with graphic design tools.
n
nnUnderstanding of TSI, developmental education in higher education, use Datatel-Colleague student database system.
n
nnFamiliar with developing academic remediation plans for at-risk students and understanding of expectations for professional and allied health programs post-baccalaureate.
n
nnExperience with student information system or similar information system.
n
nnSkills in developing publication pieces to deliver key dates and relevant topics to student-athletes and athletic personnel.
