Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Allergy, Immunology & Asthma physician to join the growing Vanderbilt Lung Institute. This faculty position focuses on the care of patients with asthma and allergic diseases while expanding industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical research programs. This role offers a unique opportunity to practice in a highly collaborative academic environment with access to robust clinical and research infrastructure across Middle Tennessee.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
Provide high-quality outpatient care for patients with asthma and allergic/immunologic conditions
Supervise and collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers
Utilize onsite resources including full pulmonary function testing (PFTs) and comprehensive allergy testing
Participate in consult-only inpatient service (no primary admitting)
Research & Academic Focus Develop and grow an asthma-focused clinical trials portfolio, with protected research time
Participate in industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated asthma research
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in asthma, chronic sinus disease, food allergy, and drug allergy
Contribute to scholarly activity, academic publishing, and presentations
Teach and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and research staff
Participate in Division and Department educational programs
Practice Environment Locations: Vanderbilt Lung Institute - West End and satellite clinics
Team: 10 physicians and 6 Advanced Practice Providers across 3 clinical sites
Integrated Research Support:
Clinical research coordinators
Specimen processing, storage, and shipment
Industry contract and budget development support
Regulatory and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) infrastructure embedded within clinic space
Qualifications Board Certified or Board Eligible in Allergy & Immunology
o BE/BC candidates in Pulmonary Medicine with asthma focus will be considered Demonstrated interest in an academic career centered on asthma
Experience or strong interest in asthma clinical trials and outcomes research
Excellent clinical acumen, communication skills, and collaborative approach
Commitment to advancing patient care, education, and research in asthma and allergic disease
