Description

The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive academic advising and support services to the workforce and academic transfer students at Trinity Valley Community College. The role ensures that students are guided in their educational planning, course selection, and registration processes, while interpreting test scores and academic requirements. Additionally, this position supports student-athletes, assists with program transfers, monitors academic eligibility for scholarships and graduation, and facilitates successful student transitions to four-year universities. It also maintains accurate records, ensures compliance with college policies, and participates in recruitment and retention initiatives.

Reports to: Assistant Director of Enrollment Services

Job Duties

Assist workforce and academic transfer students with educational planning, course advisement, registration, and interpreting TSI and other test scores.

Maintain appointment schedules through WaitWhile for advising via email, Zoom, phone, and face-to-face meetings.

Record and maintain student interactions in My Cardinal Connect and ImageNow.

Ensure AP scores and Texas College Bridge Certificates are processed by the Registrar's Office for proper credit.

Advise students on policies related to payment, attendance, academic loads, conduct, and scholastic standards.

Stay informed of state and federal program requirements for workforce development and assist transfer students with program information, course requirements, application deadlines, and university contacts.

Advise student-athletes on NJCAA eligibility and NCAA/NAIA transfer guidelines and monitor progress toward graduation.

Ensure student eligibility for scholarships and graduation requirements.

Assist with Freshman Orientation programs as needed.

Support recruitment efforts as specified by the Director of Recruiting and Admissions.

Attend relevant workshops, conventions, and professional development events.

Maintain confidentiality of student records in compliance with FERPA.

Serve on College committees as assigned.

Refer students to appropriate resources, such as Career Coach, tutoring, or disability services.

Drop/register students and process students and faculty-generated drop forms.

Complete degree audits, including 30-hour and 150-hour audits for financial aid, and remove holds as needed.

Advise students on Scholastic Probation and other academic sanctions.

Stay updated on transfer guidelines for local universities.

Work assigned schedule and comply with timekeeping policy.

Advise students on any TVCC campus as required.

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Bachelor's degree

PREFERRED:

Master's degree

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Two (2) working with students in an educational setting or equivalent

PREFERRED:

Experience advising students regarding academic plans and workforce education
