Access Specialist I | Patient Registration CoordinatorJoin a dynamic healthcare team in the Pacific Northwest region, where compassionate service and patient-centered care are at the forefront. This role as an Access Specialist I involves providing exceptional customer service by accurately scheduling and registering patients for various clinical and hospital services. You will play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their care journey, including managing financial responsibilities.Key ResponsibilitiesSchedule and register patients using specialized software, ensuring data accuracy including patient identification and insurance verification.Verify referrals and pre-authorizations for applicable services.Conduct registration interviews prior to patient visits.Perform point-of-service collections such as co-payments and co-insurances, and manage daily cash drawer operations.Handle multi-line telephone systems to respond promptly and professionally to inquiries.Maintain patient comfort, dignity, safety, and confidentiality during intake processes.Complete daily assignments, administrative tasks, and manage mail processing.Contribute to workflow improvements and participate in special projects as needed.Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.Healthcare experience is advantageous.Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare revenue cycle is preferred.Skills and AbilitiesAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environment while delivering timely, professional, and compassionate service.Proficiency with insurance verification systems and strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and various office equipment.Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills.Calm and professional demeanor during high-volume or stressful situations.Effective written and verbal communication skills, with sensitivity to patients' emotional and social needs.Discretion in handling confidential information and maintaining accurate documentation.Team-oriented with a collaborative and respectful approach.Work Environment and BenefitsThis full-time position offers 10-hour shifts within a 40-hour workweek under a service union contract.
