Position Summary

The Associate Account Director serves as the strategic and day‑to‑day lead for our client, ensuring that Burrell delivers culturally grounded, insight‑driven work that advances the client’s mission. This role acts as the bridge between the client, internal teams, and external partners—translating goals into clear briefs, guiding creative and strategic thinking, and ensuring smooth execution across all workstreams. The Associate Account Director is responsible for stewarding the relationship, championing the voice of Black audiences and multicultural communities, and keeping programs on track, on budget, and aligned with the client’s organizational values.

Our Associate Account Director – Freelance role is an exciting 12 month opportunity scoped at 12‑15 hours a week, starting on 1/5/2026. The budgeted compensation for this role is up to $50/hour. Our application review process is anticipated to end 12/19/2025.

Strategic Stewardship: Translate client goals into actionable strategic recommendations and culturally grounded creative briefs that guide integrated campaigns and content.

Creative & Cultural Guidance: Partner with Strategy and Creative to ensure all work reflects Black audience insights, aligns with the client’s values, and maintains brand integrity.

Project Management: Oversee timelines, scopes, budgets, and deliverables across all workstreams, ensuring projects are completed on time and within the 12‑month contract parameters.

Workflow Coordination: Lead status meetings, track tasks, and ensure cross‑functional alignment between Creative, Strategy, Production, and external partners.

Financial Oversight: Monitor hours, budgets, and financial projections; support scoping and manage change orders as priorities evolve.

Quality Control: Review deliverables for accuracy, cultural resonance, and strategic alignment before they are shared with the client.

Client Presentation Management: Prepare team members, frame narratives, and guide feedback cycles during all client presentations and reviews.

Issue & Risk Mitigation: Identify roadblocks early, communicate impacts clearly, and implement solutions to maintain project momentum.

Cross‑Team Collaboration: Champion a positive team culture by facilitating transparent communication, providing clear feedback, and ensuring all workstreams operate smoothly and cohesively.

Qualifications

5–8 years of experience managing integrated marketing programs across digital, social, broadcast, and content‑driven channels; agency experience preferred.

Strong client and relationship leader with experience collaborating across internal teams, external partners, and senior stakeholders.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate strategy, feedback, and next steps in both written and verbal formats.

Deep understanding of the creative development and production process, from briefing through delivery.

Effective project manager with proven ability to oversee timelines, budgets, scopes, and multiple concurrent workstreams.

Skilled team leader and mentor who can motivate, guide, and support cross‑functional teams in fast‑paced environments.
