Read on to fully understand what this job requires in terms of skills and experience If you are a good match, make an application.
We are expanding our industrial microbiology platform and seeking an Account Executive to establish and grow our Industrial Quality Control vertical.
The Role
As the Account Executive for Industrial Quality Control, you will sell Avam’s industrial microbiology platform across two primary application areas:
Sterility and release testing: Testing that supports confirmation that batches, finished products, and other required samples meet applicable microbiological or sterility specifications before release
Industrial fermentation quality control: Monitoring microbial contamination, culture integrity, and process consistency in fermentation-based manufacturing
Your customers will include pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical manufacturers, industrial biotechnology companies, fermentation-based manufacturers, contract manufacturers, and third-party quality-control laboratories.
These organizations do not test once—they run routine, recurring programs tied directly to production and batch-release schedules. When results are delayed, inconsistent, or require repeat testing, products remain on hold, laboratory workloads increase, and manufacturing economics suffer.
Avam’s value is built around that operational reality: dependable performance, reliable results, faster turnaround, efficient laboratory workflows, and testing products capable of supporting recurring quality-control programs at scale.
Your job is to make that value clear to QC microbiology, quality assurance, laboratory operations, manufacturing, validation, and procurement leaders—and turn it into long-term customer relationships.
The Founding Opportunity
Avam’s sales technology, marketing engine, technical resources, and go to market infrastructure are already built and operating across our other markets. You will have the support needed to sell effectively without starting from a blank page.
What is genuinely founding is the Industrial Quality Control vertical itself.
You will help determine which customer segments and territories Avam prioritizes, secure the vertical’s first reference accounts, refine its commercial messaging, and establish a repeatable sales playbook. As the vertical grows, this role offers a direct path toward building and leading its sales team.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants both the resources and the influence of an early commercial leader, with uncapped earning potential as the business expands.
What You’ll Own
Own the complete sales cycle for net-new industrial and pharmaceutical quality-control accounts, from prospecting and discovery through technical evaluation, proposal, negotiation, and signed contract
Build and actively manage a target-account strategy for manufacturers, contract manufacturers, fermentation-based producers, and third-party QC laboratories within your territory
Develop relationships with QC microbiology leaders, QA directors, laboratory managers, manufacturing quality teams, validation stakeholders, plant leadership, and procurement
Translate Avam’s sterility-testing and fermentation-QC capabilities into a clear business and technical value story for each customer
Connect testing performance to the outcomes customers care about, including faster batch release, reduced product-hold time, greater laboratory throughput, fewer repeat tests, dependable production schedules, and lower operational risk
Work alongside the founding SDR assigned to the vertical to turn outbound activity into qualified opportunities and pipeline
Coordinate with Avam’s product and technical teams during customer evaluations, workflow reviews, technical discussions, and method assessments
Navigate complex sales processes involving scientific, quality, operational, procurement, and executive stakeholders
Identify opportunities to expand successful accounts across additional facilities, manufacturing lines, testing applications, and laboratory workflows
Build the vertical’s early reference-account base and develop relationships that can support case studies, referrals, and broader market credibility
Maintain disciplined opportunity management, forecasting, pipeline coverage, and CRM records
Bring structured market feedback to leadership, product, and marketing teams to improve positioning, product priorities, and future go to market decisions
Report directly to the leadership team responsible for shaping and scaling the vertical
What We’re Looking For
At least three years of successful closing experience in industrial quality control, pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical QC, sterility testing, industrial microbiology, laboratory products, or a closely related regulated-manufacturing market
A demonstrated record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets in a comparable sales environment
Experience managing a full, consultative sales cycle involving multiple technical, quality, operational, and commercial stakeholders
Working knowledge of quality-control and release-testing workflows in industrial or pharmaceutical manufacturing—or the ability and commitment to become fluent quickly
An understanding of how turnaround time, result reliability, laboratory capacity, and testing delays affect batch release and manufacturing operations
The ability to understand technical products and translate their capabilities into clear operational and financial value
Strong prospecting, discovery, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills
The discipline to build pipeline, manage a territory, maintain accurate forecasts, and move opportunities forward
Comfort operating in an entrepreneurial environment where you will help create the playbook as well as execute it
The judgment to listen closely to customers, identify meaningful workflow problems, and avoid forcing the same sales message into every account
A collaborative approach to working with sales development, marketing, product, scientific, and leadership teams
Nice to Have
An existing professional network among industrial or pharmaceutical QC, quality assurance, microbiology, laboratory operations, and manufacturing-quality leaders is valuable and may shorten your ramp, but it is not required.
Experience selling microbiological testing products, sterility-testing workflows, culture media, reagents, assays, laboratory instruments, consumables, rapid microbiological methods, or other recurring-use technical products is also beneficial.
How Success Will Be Measured
Success in this role means more than closing isolated transactions. You will be expected to:
Build a healthy, qualified pipeline across the vertical
Win the first group of high-value reference customers
Create recurring revenue from routine quality-control and batch-release testing programs
Establish a repeatable approach to territory development and account conversion
Deliver accurate forecasts and consistent sales execution
Help Avam understand which messages, applications, and customer segments create the strongest market response
Develop expansion opportunities across customer sites, workflows, and testing applications
Build the foundation from which a larger Industrial Quality Control sales team can scale
