nSterling Industrial, headquartered in Evansville, Indiana was founded and incorporated in 1982. Our company began and grew from a need for swift, reliable service for utilities in southern Indiana. Meeting the needs of utilities through small emergencies, we found an increasing need to add pipefitters and millwrights to our operation, and from there our company continued to grow.
nAs a multi-craft union contractor, we provide civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical services for new construction and maintenance/retrofit projects. Our core markets include power generation, metals, pulp/paper, plastics, and chemical markets. nPosition Summary:
nThe Regional EHS Manager will oversee environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs across multiple job sites within a designated region. This role will support site-level EHS teams, provide strategic guidance, and ensure consistent implementation and continuous improvement of corporate safety policies and procedures. The Regional EHS Manager will serve as a subject matter expert, lead regional risk assessments, and act as a liaison between field operations and senior EHS leadership.
**Key Tasks and Responsibilities **
nProvide oversight and support to site-level EHS Coordinators and teams.
nImplement, monitor, and enforce corporate EHS programs across all regional sites.
nConduct regional audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and areas for improvement.
nAnalyze regional EHS trends and incident data to develop proactive safety strategies.
nDevelop and deliver advanced training programs for site EHS staff and project leadership.
nPromote a culture of safety through engagement, coaching, and collaboration with operations.
nInvestigate major incidents, near-misses, and safety violations to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
nEnsure regulatory compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local environmental health standards.
nCoordinate with regulatory bodies and represent the company during inspections or inquiries.
nProvide detailed reporting to the EHS Manager and executive leadership on regional EHS performance.
nAssist in the development and standardization of emergency response plans across the region.
nServe as a key resource for interpreting and implementing new EHS regulations and corporate initiatives.
nSupport the onboarding and mentoring of new site-level safety professionals.
n n**Education/Experience **
nnBachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred.
nMinimum 7 years of experience in construction or industrial safety, including supervisory or regional oversight roles.
nStrong working knowledge of OSHA CFR 1926 and 1910 standards.
nCertified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA 500/510, or equivalent certifications preferred.
nDemonstrated experience in leading EHS programs across multiple job sites or geographic areas.
nStrong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
nHigh proficiency in preparing reports, analyzing safety metrics, and presenting to leadership.
nComputer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
nValid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
nSatisfactory background check.
