nJOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE
nAccountant I: Provides financial information by preparing reports, maintaining accounting records and general Ledger and analyzing accounts and program expenditures.
nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
nnnApproves AP vouchers and codes expenses and charges
n
nnAnalyzes general ledger account and program financial situation
n
nnProvides financial analyses, participates in budget preparation
n
nnPrepares documentation for internal and external audit
n
nnPrepares monthly billing and Drawdown
n
nnMaintains Accounting controls by following policies and procedures complying with Federal, state and local financial requirement
n
nnCorrects errors by posting adjusting entries in Great Plain Accounting software
n
nnPrepares monthly, quarterly, yearly closeout reports for funders
n
nnMaintains simple accounts and balance reconciliation
n
nnOther duties as required

nAbility to work and deal with difficult, uncooperative, and potentially aggressive clients as VOALA serves the neediest of the needy in our programs, which may include clients with homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse, recently released from incarceration, and other challenges.
nESSENTIAL DUTIES:
nnnAn essential function of this position requires incumbents to report to the office.

n nMANDATED REPORTER
nAs service providers to the underprivileged and vulnerable in our community, all employees are considered Mandated Reporters, and must report any instance of physical or sexual abuse to proper authorities.
nQualifications
nREQUIREMENTS:
nnnMust be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications
n
nnAbility to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflicts dealing with difficult, uncooperative, and potentially aggressive clients as VOALA serves the neediest of the needy in our programs which may include clients with homelessness, mental-illness, substance abuse, recently released from incarceration and other challenges.
n
n nEDUCATION:
nnBachelor-s degree
n nEXPERIENCE:
nn3 years of Accounting/Bookkeeping experience.
n nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
nnnBachelor-s in finance, business or accounting
n
nnAccounting experience in federal grant reporting and grant management preferred
n
nnExperience working in public and/or non-profit organization preferred
n
nnGreat Plain accounting software
n
