Job description
Job Title: General Ledger Accountant
nLocation: Ashburn VA
nOnsite 3 days week
nJob Type: contract
nW2 Rate $40- 50 hr
nJefferson Wells is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced General Ledger (GL) Accountant to join our client's finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, month-end close processes, reconciliations, and journal entries-particularly in a manufacturing and inventory-focused environment.
nKey Responsibilities:
nnnManage and execute month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and accuracy is maintained.
n
nnPrepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments in accordance with GAAP.
n
nnPerform general ledger account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
n
nnHandle intercompany transactions and reconciliations across multiple entities.
n
nnSupport inventory accounting, including cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis, inventory valuation, and cycle count adjustments.
n
nnCollaborate with the manufacturing and operations teams to ensure accurate reporting of production costs and inventory levels.
n
nnAssist in financial audits by providing necessary documentation and support.
n
nnContribute to process improvements and ensure internal controls are followed.

n nQualifications:
nnnBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
n
nn3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
n
nnSolid understanding of US GAAP and general accounting principles.
n
nnExperience with inventory accounting and cost accounting preferred.
n
nnProficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
n
nnStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
n
nnAbility to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
