nAbout Pendleton Correctional Facility:

nPendleton Correctional Facility is a maximum‑security facility located in Pendleton, Indiana, housing incarcerated adult males. The facility also operates an adjacent minimum‑security dormitory. While the campus has historic origins, it includes updated housing units and medical areas that support modern correctional operations. Incarcerated individuals can participate in educational programs, GED preparation, and literacy courses. Additional opportunities include substance abuse treatment, parenting courses, and vocational training in auto body repair and printing. Staff emphasize safety, accountability, and skill development. nRole Overview:

nAs an Accountant you will be based at the facility and will process Accounts Payable, Recreation Fund, and Miscellaneous Fund transactions. This position is responsible for processing transactions associated with the payment of invoices in PeopleSoft.

nSalary:

nThe salary for this position traditionally starts at $37,648.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

nA Day in the Life:

nThe essential functions of this role are as follows:

nnnPost transactions to appropriate ledgers and accounts.

n

nnVerify accuracy of all financial documents and records.

n

nnReconcile accounts and subsidiary ledgers with the general ledger.

n

nnPrepare, correct, and adjust entries prior to closing accounts.

n

nnPrepare periodic financial reports such as balance sheets and income statements.

n

nnEnsure availability of funds before authorizing payment or submitting vouchers for payment to the State Auditor’s Office for approval.

n

nnPrepare, edit, and verify electronic data processing entries and documents.

n

nnRecommend changes in accounting policies and assists in developing accounting procedures.

n

nWhat You'll Need for Success:

nIndividuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

nnnFoundational knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of public accounting.

n

nnFoundational knowledge of agency function and organization.

n

nnFoundational knowledge of the federal and state laws, procedures, practices and policies of governmental accounting and bookkeeping.

n

nnFoundational knowledge of automated accounting systems.

n

nnAbility to communicate, both orally and in writing.

n

nnAbility to solve standard accounting problems.

n

nnAbility to evaluate and recommend modifications to existing accounting methods and procedures.

n

nnAbility to accurately perform arithmetic calculations.

n

nnAbility to prepare clear, accurate and concise reports.

n

nnEffective communication skills.

n

n nA degree is not required.
