nThis position maintains and reconciles ledgers and accounts according to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The incumbent prepares and analyzes financial information, reports and financial statements based upon derived statistics and analysis performed.

nResponsibilities

nEssential Functions

nnnPrepares and assesses budget, revenue, expense, payroll and journal entries, and other accounting documents.

n

nnAnalyzes and monitors budgets and expenditures for compliance with fiscal accountability and reporting requirements.

n

nnAnalyzes and forecasts revenue and expenditure trends.

n

nnReconciles balance sheets, cash, general ledger, payroll accounts and supporting journal entries.

n

nnDevelops accounting systems and documents to support the input and handling of financial data and reports.

n

nnInteracts with internal and external auditors and participates in auditing projects.

n

nnMay supervise or train lower level accounting staff.

n

n nKnowledge / Skills / Abilities

nnnDemonstrated spreadsheet and database skills.

n

nnDemonstrated analytical, problem solving, human relations and effective communication skills.

n nQualifications

nRequired

nnnBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, a related field, or the equivalency.

n

nnOne year of related accounting experience.

n

nnThorough understanding of general ledger accounting practices.

n

n nQualifications (Preferred)

nPreferred

nnnCertified Public Accountant (CPA) Certification.

n

nnKnowledge of PeopleSoft or other applications.
