KinderCare is seeking an experienced Accounting Analyst II to join our corporate accounting team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring grant funding and governmental awards are accurately recorded, monitored, reconciled, and reported in compliance with applicable accounting standards, grant requirements, and internal controls.

As an Accounting Analyst II, you will also contribute to process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and provide support for financial and compliance audits.

Responsibilities:

Determine appropriate accounting treatment for grant awards and funding agreements; monitor grant funding, expenditures, reimbursements, and related activity to ensure accurate recording in the general ledger and supporting sub-ledgers

Prepare detailed reporting and journal entries related to grant funding and supporting documentation; respond to requests related to financial and compliance audits

Analyze financial statement variances and investigate significant or unusual activity

Reconcile complex balance sheet accounts and investigate/resolve discrepancies

Perform internal control activities and monitor compliance with established accounting and grant requirements; identify, document, and remediate control deficiencies; review and update accounting policies and procedures to support ongoing compliance; develop, document, implement, and execute new accounting processes and procedures as needed

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field; 4+ years of corporate or public accounting experience

Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls

Experience researching and applying accounting guidance to complex transactions

Experience analyzing financial statements, account reconciliations, journal entries, and variances; ability to identify accounting and compliance risks and develop practical solutions

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
