Accounting AssistantSturges is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support our accounting team and front office. This role blends hands-on accounting work — accounts receivable, accounts payable, and month-end close support — with front-desk responsibilities, making it a great fit for someone who's organized, personable, and comfortable wearing multiple hats. You'll also serve as backup to the Staff Accountant during absences, gaining broad exposure across our accounting functions.Schedule: Choice of two options: 37.50 hour work week4-day week: Tuesday–Thursday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, and Friday, 6:30 AM–4:00 PM5-day week: Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, and Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PMAccounting SupportPrepare customer invoices and export documentation, verifying accuracy and completenessEnsure daily customer correspondence (invoices, export documents, certificates of compliance) is distributed on time, with accurate records maintainedApply daily accounts receivable receipts and assist with collection activities on past-due accountsPerform credit reference verifications for new customers per company proceduresAssist with reviewing, auditing, and entering accounts payable invoicesProcess weekly AP payments and distribute weekly ACH remittance statements to vendorsReview and edit daily/weekly team member timecards for accuracy and completenessCompile and prepare routine reports and summaries as requestedAssist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, with flexibility to adjust schedules/time off as needed to meet deadlinesFront Office & Team SupportPerform receptionist duties: greeting visitors, answering/directing incoming calls, monitoring building door and security systemsServe as backup to the Staff Accountant during absences (excluding payroll processing)Maintain strict confidentiality and security of financial, customer, vendor, and other sensitive company informationPlease note: This position is considered safety-sensitive and requires consistent alertness at all times.Why Join Sturges?At Sturges, we're proud of the people, products, and workplace we've built over more than a century.Certified as a Great Place to Work® in 2026, 2025, and 2024Named one of the Best Companies to Work For in New York State in 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2016, 2015, and 2014Proudly Made in the USAManufacturing in the United States since 1909Leading manufacturer of engineered webbing and sewing solutionsA team-focused workplace where every employee contributes to our successAbout Sturges ManufacturingSince 1909, Sturges Manufacturing has been designing and manufacturing custom-engineered webbing solutions in the United States.
