Accounting Consultant (Senior Accountant to Accounting Manager Level)

Robert Half Management Resources is seeking Accounting Consultants for ongoing project opportunities across the Greater Tampa/St. Petersburg and Greater Sarasota markets - candidates in either market encouraged to apply.

This role is ideal for professionals who can operate as a senior-level individual contributor or step into Accounting Manager-level responsibilities depending on the engagement. Our consultants partner with a variety of organizations, from growing middle-market companies to large, established enterprises, helping clients navigate periods of change, growth, system implementations, process improvements, and critical accounting initiatives.
What You'll Do
Engagements vary based on client needs and may include:
Leading or supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Preparing and reviewing financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Managing account reconciliations and balance sheet analysis
Supporting consolidations, intercompany accounting, and fixed asset accounting
Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
Driving accounting process improvements and internal control enhancements
Supporting audits and serving as a key point of contact for external auditors
Assisting with ERP implementations, upgrades, and system optimization projects
Providing leadership and guidance to accounting teams when needed
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Experience as a Senior Accountant, Lead Accountant, Accounting Manager, or similar role
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Advanced Excel skills and experience working within ERP systems
CPA, CMA, or public accounting experience is highly valued
Ability to quickly learn new environments and deliver results with limited ramp-up time
Strong communication and business partnering skills
Work Environment
This is a hybrid consulting opportunity supporting clients throughout the Greater Tampa Bay and Sarasota regions. Most engagements will involve some onsite presence, typically up to three days per week, while others may offer additional flexibility depending on client needs. While fully remote projects do arise periodically, candidates should be comfortable with a hybrid work model and occasional onsite collaboration.
