nJob Description

nThe Accounting & Finance Manager is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and day-to-day management of Wendt's financial operations. This role oversees the accounting function, ensuring financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, and operational processes are completed accurately and consistently. By providing reliable financial information and maintaining a strong financial foundation, the Accounting & Finance Manager helps agency leadership make informed business decisions and supports the long-term success of the agency.

nThis role works closely with the Vice President of Development & Finance and has the opportunity to grow over time, taking on a greater role in financial planning, business insights, and supporting the long-term success of the agency.

nKey Responsibilities

nFinancial Operations

nOversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end/year-end close

nEnsure financial transactions are accurate, timely, and compliant with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

nPrepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and reconciliations to ensure leadership has reliable information regarding the agency's financial position

nMaintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation

nPartner with account managers overseeing project billing, client financial reporting, and account analysis

nFinancial Stewardship

nSupport budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning

nDevelop an understanding of financial performance and contribute insights that support informed business decisions

nMaintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial safeguards

nEnsure compliance with tax, reporting, licensing, and regulatory requirements

nManage banking relationships, insurance administration, and other financial partnerships

nCoordinate annual audits, tax preparation, and regulatory reporting

nPartnership, Process, and Growth

nPartner closely with the Vice President of Development & Finance to support sound financial decision making

nCollaborate with agency leadership to provide financial guidance and business insights

nIdentify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting, workflows, and operational efficiency

nRecommend and help implement process improvements and automation that support a growing agency

nContinue developing financial leadership skills while contributing to the agency's long-term success

nKey Strengths & Qualifications

nBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field preferred

n3–5 years of accounting or financial operations experience preferred

nExperience managing core accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting

nWorking knowledge of GAAP and sound accounting principles

nExperience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel

nStrong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail

nHigh level of integrity, accountability, and sound judgment

nCurious, proactive, and excited to continue growing professionally

nAbility to work independently while collaborating closely with agency leadership
