Restaurant Accounting Manager (NEW POSITION)

Increase your chances of an interview by reading the following overview of this role before making an application.

Location: Washington, DC Metro Area

Schedule: Hybrid/Flex

Reports to: Controller / VP of Finance

Compensation: $ 120,000-130,000 (Commensurate with experience)

About the Company

Our client is a privately held hospitality company with a growing portfolio of restaurants, dining concepts, and hospitality assets across Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. The company is known for its operating standards and its entrepreneurial culture, and it is building a finance function that can keep pace with its growth.

About the Position

The Accounting Manager will lead a small team of accounting professionals. The team owns the monthly close, the consolidation, and the financial reporting for all of the company's entities. This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll own the accuracy and timing of the numbers, and you'll work closely with senior leadership, operators, and outside advisors. Your work will turn operating data into clear, timely reporting for decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of staff and senior accountants. Set priorities, review work, and build accountability.

Build a culture of accuracy, deadlines, and continuous improvement.

Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close across multiple legal entities and locations.

Oversee the roll-up and consolidation of entity-level financials, including intercompany transactions, eliminations, and management fee allocations.

Prepare and deliver consolidated and property-level P&Ls, balance sheets, and cash flow statements to ownership and leadership.

Produce hospitality KPIs and flash reports: prime cost, food and beverage cost percentages, labor as a percent of sales, same-store sales, and covers or RevPAR where applicable.

Oversee daily sales reconciliation from POS to GL, including credit card, third-party delivery, gift card, and cash deposit reconciliations.

Oversee AP, inventory and COGS accounting, tip and payroll accruals, and fixed asset and pre-opening cost tracking for new locations.

Review balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries for accuracy and supporting documentation.

Support the annual budget and forecasting process, and deliver budget-vs-actual variance analysis to operators.

Coordinate with external CPAs on audits, reviews, and tax filings, including sales and meals tax, 1099s, and lender and investor reporting.

Design and enforce internal controls and standard close procedures across all entities.

Serve as the finance team's systems lead. Improve integrations between POS, payroll, purchasing, and accounting platforms.

Find opportunities to automate, standardize reporting, and shorten the close.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years supervising accounting staff.

Direct experience in hospitality, restaurants, dining, or multi-unit food and beverage operations.

Proven experience with multi-entity consolidation, intercompany accounting, and financial statement preparation under GAAP.

Hands-on experience with hospitality-focused systems, such as:

Accounting/ERP: Restaurant365, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online (multi-entity), NetSuite, or Compeat

POS: Toast, Aloha (NCR Voyix), Oracle MICROS Simphony, Square, or SpotOn

Purchasing/Inventory: MarginEdge, Craftable, or R365 Inventory

Payroll/HR: ADP, Paylocity, Paycom, or 7shifts

AP/Payments: or Plate IQ (Ottimate)

Hotel assets (a plus): Oracle OPERA, M3, or similar hotel accounting platforms

Advanced Excel skills: pivot tables, lookups, and consolidation models.

Experience supporting new restaurant or venue openings a plus. xzgxqkn

Background in a privately held, owner-operated, or private equity-backed hospitality group.
