Accounting Manager
Location: St. Charles, IL | Fully On-Site
Position Overview
An established and expanding investment organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee accounting and financial reporting for a group of manufacturing and distribution businesses. This hands-on role will work directly with executive leadership across multiple entities, providing financial visibility, strengthening accounting processes, and supporting business performance.
The position offers broad exposure to operational finance, working capital management, and acquisition-related activities within a growing portfolio of businesses. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting skills with a practical, business-focused mindset and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple locations.
Key Qualifications
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in manufacturing or distribution
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
Demonstrated ability to independently manage month-end close activities and financial reporting
Strong understanding of inventory accounting, standard costing, and margin analysis
Background supporting acquisitions, business integrations, or separation activities
Advanced Excel capabilities and experience working with ERP platforms
Ability to travel approximately 10–25% between business locations
CPA or CMA certification preferred
Experience working within a private equity-owned, family office-backed, or multi-entity organization is beneficial
Primary Responsibilities
Oversee monthly accounting close cycles for multiple business entities, maintaining accuracy, consistency, and reporting deadlines
Review financial statements and operating results, identifying variances, trends, and opportunities for improvement
Monitor cash flow and working capital while overseeing key accounting areas, including receivables, payables, and inventory
Assist with financial reviews of potential acquisitions and coordinate accounting activities following completed transactions
Strengthen accounting procedures and internal controls while maintaining reliable financial data across ERP systems
Partner with business presidents and senior executives to provide financial analysis that supports operational and strategic planning
Monitor debt covenant requirements, liquidity, and working capital performance
Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, accounting efficiency, and financial oversight across the portfolio
