Accounting SpecialistLocation: Seneca, KSReports To: Senior AccountantFLSA Status: Non-ExemptPrepared Date: September 2026SUMMARYThis position will be support for all aspects of our office. The Accounting Specialist will perform routine clerical, secretarial and administrative work in supporting all departments including answering telephones, receiving the public, providing customer assistance, data processing, reconciling and record keeping.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(Includes the following and other duties may be assigned)Responsible for:Accounts payable duties as assigned focusing on company purchases and expenses which will include compiling, coding, posting, check writing and reconciling all records in an efficient mannerAssisting Accounts Receivable department with customer payments and various tasksAssisting Energy department with contract entry and various tasksAssisting Agronomy department with contract entry and various tasksSupporting the Grain DepartmentProviding customer service by answering the phone and meeting the customers needsHelping with company mailings including monthly statementsOperating Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook for reports and correspondenceAdhering to cooperative credit policyReconciling company accountsDaily housekeeping of work area and officeReporting to CFO any cost saving opportunitiesSecuring facilities and equipment when closingAdherence to safety policiesPromoting and adhering to the company Core Values of honesty, integrity & teamworkPromptly and regularly report to work and work overtime hours as neededPerforming all other duties as assignedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must possess computer technology and 10-key calculator operation skills. Must be willing to seek out and attend additional continuing education, seminars, classes or other job-related education requirements or opportunities.LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, and weights.REASONING ABILITYThe ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Able to deal with problems with several concrete variables in standard situations. Must be able to think quickly and perform a mental assessment of workplace hazards, take appropriate precautions, and choose appropriate personal protective equipment as dictated by need, regulation and labeling.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
