Accounts Billing Officer (SBO) SpecialistJoin a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, where your expertise in billing and customer service will make a meaningful impact. This full-time, day-shift role focuses on providing exceptional financial counseling and support to patients regarding their billing inquiries and balances for both hospital and physician services.The Accounts Billing Officer (SBO) Specialist is responsible for managing patient financial communications, including inbound and outbound calls to address questions and resolve outstanding balances. You will guide patients through payment options, explain insurance coverage details, and assist with financial assistance applications while maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.Essential duties and responsibilities include:Serve as the primary contact for patient inquiries about coinsurance, copays, deductibles, contractual adjustments, and discounts.Resolve billing complaints and clarify insurance coverage limitations.Contact guarantors regarding past due balances and process payments securely.Offer payment plans and bank loan financing options within policy guidelines.Screen and process financial assistance applications for eligible patients.Maintain accurate reconciliation of business banking and credit card accounts.Distinguish billing issues from patient care concerns and escalate appropriately.Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional training in healthcare billing or customer service is preferred.Experience: Previous experience in medical billing is highly preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and billing software, including electronic data submission, is advantageous.Requirements: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle repetitive tasks with concentration are essential. Physical requirements include the ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, and occasionally lift items up to ten pounds. The work environment is a standard office setting with occasional exposure to noise and other typical office conditions.
