Accounts Billing Officer (SBO) SpecialistJoin a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, where your expertise in billing and customer service will make a meaningful impact. This full-time, day-shift role involves managing patient financial inquiries and counseling to ensure smooth resolution of balances related to hospital and physician services.General SummaryAs an SBO Billing Specialist, you will be the primary contact for patients regarding their financial responsibilities, including coinsurance, copays, deductibles, and contractual adjustments. Your role includes handling inbound and outbound calls to address patient questions, resolve complaints, and offer payment solutions such as monthly plans and bank loan financing through secure portals.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide excellent customer service by explaining patient financial obligations and insurance coverage details.Resolve billing complaints and distinguish them from patient care concerns, forwarding the latter to appropriate departments.Contact guarantors about past due balances and process payments securely.Screen and assist patients with financial assistance applications for outstanding balances.Reconcile business banking and credit card accounts accurately.Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines when handling patient information.EducationA high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional training in healthcare billing or customer service is preferred.ExperiencePrevious experience in medical billing is highly desirable. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with billing software and electronic data submission are advantageous.RequirementsStrong communication skills, both oral and written, are essential. The role requires normal mental concentration for repetitive tasks, and the ability to stand, walk, sit, and occasionally lift items up to 10 pounds. The work environment is a standard office setting with occasional exposure to noise and other typical office conditions.
