This position involves entering and verifying claim information, submitting claims electronically or via paper forms, and addressing patient questions regarding payments and coverage.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesAccurately enter patient and insurance details for claims processing.Submit insurance claims to clearinghouses or insurance companies using electronic or paper methods.Respond to patient inquiries about copays, deductibles, write-offs, and account balances.Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims, resolve issues, and resubmit as necessary.Prepare appeal letters for denied claims, gathering required documentation.Adhere to HIPAA guidelines when handling patient information.Perform soft collections by contacting patients regarding past due accounts.Verify patient benefits and coverage limits, including managed care authorizations.Submit secondary claims after primary insurer processing.EducationHigh School Diploma or GED is required.ExperiencePrevious medical billing experience is highly preferred, along with familiarity with billing software and electronic data submission.RequirementsStrong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle repetitive tasks are essential.
