Accounts Billing Specialist | Medical Billing ExpertJoin a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, where your expertise in billing and customer service will make a meaningful impact. This full-time, day-shift role focuses on managing patient financial accounts, providing clear communication, and supporting patients through their billing inquiries.General SummaryThe Accounts Billing Specialist is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and financial counseling related to patient balances, including hospital and physician billing. This role involves handling inbound and outbound calls to address patient questions and resolve outstanding balances.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary contact for patient inquiries regarding coinsurance, copays, deductibles, and contractual adjustments.Resolve patient complaints related to billing and clarify insurance coverage details.Contact guarantors about past due balances and process payments securely.Offer payment options such as monthly plans and bank loan financing, utilizing secure portals.Screen and assist patients with financial assistance applications for outstanding balances.Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines when handling patient information.Differentiates billing issues from patient care concerns, escalating care-related complaints appropriately.Reconcile business banking and credit card accounts accurately.EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent required. Additional training in healthcare billing or customer service is preferred.ExperiencePrevious experience in medical billing is highly preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with billing software and electronic data submission is advantageous.Certification/LicenseRelevant certifications or licenses in billing or healthcare administration are a plus.Mental/Physical RequirementsStrong communication skills, visual acuity, and the ability to comprehend written instructions are essential. The role requires normal mental concentration for repetitive tasks, with the ability to stand, walk, sit, and occasionally lift items up to 10 pounds.Working ConditionsStandard office environment with occasional exposure to noise, fumes, chemicals, and other hazards.
