Compensation: $35.00/hour
Assignment: 6-Month Contract with Strong Potential for Permanent Hire
About the Opportunity
The Cyperus Group is conducting a search on behalf of a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to providing housing and supportive services throughout the New York metropolitan area. This organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Associate with a focus on Accounts Payable to join its finance team.
This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and has experience managing vendor payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting month-end and year-end accounting activities.
Key Responsibilities
Process accounts payable transactions accurately and timely
Review invoices and supporting documentation for proper approval and compliance
Maintain vendor records, including W-9 documentation and tax-related files
Assist with annual 1099 preparation and reporting
Support payment processing activities, including check runs and electronic payments
Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and vendor inquiries
Maintain organized electronic and physical accounting records
Assist with financial reporting and other accounting projects as needed
Ensure adherence to organizational accounting policies and procedures
Collaborate with internal departments to support efficient payment workflows
Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Minimum of 2 years of Accounts Payable experience
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial documentation
Experience processing high-volume invoices and vendor payments
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
