SUMMER 2027

Shure offers a challenging, fun, and rewarding summer internship program. The twelve-week program is offered to undergraduate and graduate students. We offer internships with a variety of work arrangements from onsite interns to fully remote in US. Each intern will receive a competitive salary. Additionally, Interns who are asked to relocate to Illinois for onsite internships will receive a housing stipend to cover living expenses. Applications will be collected, reviewed, and selected candidates will be contacted in late fall/early winter.

The Acoustical Engineering Intern will assist with the design, prototyping, and testing of cutting-edge acoustical systems under the supervision of senior staff.

This Internship is Onsite in Niles, IL.

Responsibilities

Design and Simulation: Assist with the design, modeling, and simulation of acoustic systems and components.

Signal Processing: Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of DSP techniques for acoustic system analysis, tuning, and performance optimization.

System Prototyping: Build and modify prototypes to support acoustic design investigations and engineering evaluations.

Testing and Measurement: Perform acoustic and electro-acoustic measurements, including frequency response, sensitivity, impedance, and related performance metrics.

Subjective Evaluation: Participate in structured listening evaluations to assess prototype performance and inform design improvements.

Project Support: Organize test data, document methods and results, and communicate findings clearly to engineering team members.

Qualifications

Completion of at least two years of coursework toward a degree in Physics, Acoustical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Digital Signal Processing, or a related field.

Basic experience with signal generators, spectrum analyzers, audio analyzers, or hardware/software tools for acoustic and electro-acoustic measurements is a plus.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering team environment.

Strong interest in electro-acoustical transducers, acoustic systems, audio signal processing, or related technologies.

Experience in live sound production, live performance, audio recording, or audio system setup is desirable.

PAY TRANSPARENCY

Modeled by extensive market analysis and economic best practices, Shure offers competitive intern compensation that is reviewed and adjusted annually by our Total Rewards Team to attract, hire, and retain the industry's top intern talent. Each internship has an hourly rate which varies from $23-$43 per hour based on job function (Engineering, IT, Business, etc) and year completed in school (Junior, Masters 2nd year, PHD, etc).
