Act Peer Support Specialist
Windom, KS $35,099 - $46,099 a year
Full Time
Join a compassionate team providing mental health support grounded in lived experience. This role involves offering direct assistance to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, helping them overcome barriers and fostering recovery through proactive solutions.
Essential Responsibilities
Deliver supportive services tailored to individuals with mental health symptoms.
Assist clients in creating actionable plans to address recovery obstacles.
Complete accurate and timely documentation.
Participate in trainings and team meetings as required.
Collaborate with community partners, caregivers, physicians, and other providers to coordinate care.
Work with clients and care teams to develop crisis prevention plans and person-centered treatment goals.
Adhere to privacy regulations protecting health information.
Maintain professional communication with clients, team members, and external agencies.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must be at least 18 years old and at least three years older than the youth served.
Self-identification as a current or former primary consumer of mental health services is essential.
Minimum of one year in stable recovery.
Preferred Qualifications
Two years of experience working with adults in a health-related field.
Certification as a Peer Support Specialist is a plus.
Licenses and Certifications
Completion of state-required training.
Valid driver's license, insurance, and reliable vehicle.
Skills and Abilities
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Intermediate proficiency with MS Office.
Ability to mentor and support others.
Effective oral communication and problem-solving capabilities.
Physical Requirements
Light work involving occasional lifting up to 25 lbs and frequent lifting up to 10 lbs. Standing or walking may be required 11-25% of the workday.
