Lake Washington Institute Of TechnologyLake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in the state of Washington. LWTech offers 12 bachelor's degrees, 42 associate degrees, and 70 professional certificates in 41 areas of study, including STEM-focused programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. LWTech serves the Eastside and is located within the city of Kirkland, which is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Washington. We are actively seeking applicants that will help to balance our employee workforce to align with our students and community.Part Time Instructors For The Physical Therapist Assistant ProgramLake Washington Institute of Technology is seeking qualified part time instructors for the physical therapist assistant program. This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future part-time faculty vacancies. The college hires part-time faculty on a quarter by quarter basis, dependent on enrollment. If you're selected for an interview for a potential future vacancy, a college representative will contact you.Essential FunctionsPlan and develop a variety of instruction objectives and experiences appropriate to the program goalsIdentify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustmentsDevelop and teach to the objectives of the approved curriculumDevelop and teach lessons which foster and support cultural diversity and non-discriminationTeach productive and constructive study skills to studentsDevelop classroom and lab procedures in conformance with identified policies and proceduresMaintain appropriate records which indicate student progress and meet college requirementsFollow disciplinary procedures as prescribed and deal consistently and fairly with all studentsDesign learning experiences for the unique characteristics of individual adult students through classes, individual instruction and self-directed learningPost the class syllabus and students' grades via the online course system (currently Canvas)QualificationsAssociates degree in physical therapist assistant or bachelor's degree in physical therapy from an accredited college or university required3 years related clinical work experienceWA state PT or PTA license required; APTA membership preferredCollege teaching experience preferredIndustry certifications preferredExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMust have sensitivity and ability to successfully interact with diverse populationsDue to the diversity of the college population, we encourage applicants who are multilingualPrevious experience with an online course system (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Sakai, Moodle) preferredSupplemental InformationCompensation Placement on the faculty salary schedule is based on an individual assessment of education and experience. The salary for part time faculty contracts shall be based upon the number of credits assigned the faculty member, the type of class taught, and the rates contained in the part time faculty salary schedule currently in effect and labeled Appendix B. By law, post-secondary education institutions cannot hire an applicant who does not complete this form.BenefitsA part time faculty member becomes eligible for benefits at the beginning of the second consecutive quarter of half time or more of in-class teaching at one or more Washington state institutions of higher education. Spring and fall quarters are considered consecutive quarters for benefits eligibility. Half time is determined based on each institution's definition of full time. A part time faculty member must qualify each quarter they teach to maintain eligibility. Once eligible, part time faculty will be notified of their benefit and retirement options. Sick leave accrues at 1 day (Prorated based on % of FTE) per month.
