Job Description

The Adjunct – Information Systems Technology, PC Applications,position provides quality instruction and maintains a positivelearning environment in the classroom, with major emphasis placedon teaching, supporting, and evaluating students. The Adjunct roleprovides instruction and monitors teaching/learning effectivenessin courses assigned by the Department Chair, or other leadershipmembers. The incumbent must exhibit strong organizational skillsand the ability to multitask while engaging large groups of peoplewith complicated material.

Instruction & Student Learning

Teaches assigned courses as scheduled. Delivers curriculumembracing diversity, in all forms, to foster talent in studentswhile modeling inclusive teaching strategies, with an understandingof the socio-cultural issues of traditionally underrepresentedgroups. Considers individual differences of students in order todesign and support a range of appropriate learning activities.Participates in the identification of students with academic orother needs and responds by utilizing an appropriate resource. Usestechnology in a manner appropriate to the nature and objectives ofcourses and programs and communicates clearly to students theexpectations concerning the use of such technology. Keeps accurateand appropriate records in accordance with departmentalpolicies.

Maintains attendance records, determines and submits grades ina timely and accurate manner in accordance with establishedpolicies and procedures of the College, and communicates progressfeedback as well as other relevant information to studentsthroughout the semester. Distributes and maintains accurate syllabithat incorporate departmental, college, cross-college, andinstructor requirements. Conducts classes punctually and inaccordance with the prescribed meeting schedule. Employsappropriate assessment techniques to measure students’ performancein achieving course goals and objectives. Engages in periodicmeetings with the department, Lead Instructor, and Chairpersonrelative to teaching duties and professional development.

Student Engagement & Advisement

Creates a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages activeand collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge,student and faculty interaction, and support for learners. Usestechnology to assist in communication with students. Encourages asense of community among students for learning both inside andoutside the classroom.

Refers students to appropriate student and academic supportservices available at the College or in the community.

Culture of Respect

Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect andinclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of thecommunity.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities

Attends all required meetings and trainings.

Minimum Education and Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree: 2 years of experience working with MicrosoftOffice 2019 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access),Windows 10, and One Drive.

Microsoft Office Certified preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable abilityto gain access to work site(s).

Physical Requirements

While performing duties of this job,the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when enteringdata into computer. The employee frequently sits for periods oftime, stands, and walks. Employee converses verbally or manuallywith others in person as well as by telephone. Vision demandsinclude close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on acomputer screen. Employee occasionally lifts up to 10 pounds.

Working Conditions

Typical office and classroom environment. Regular exposure tomoderate noise typical to classroom setting and businessoffices.

Compensation Details:

Compensation: $56.88 per contact hour

Contact Hour: Two hours equals one contact hour

Hours: Maximum of 12 contact hours per week
