Job description

Overview

Badger Ham is a small food manufacturer based in Milwaukee. Badger Ham specializes in making a variety of hams for grocery stores and local customers across Wisconsin. Our goal is simple: to make an outstanding ham, every batch. We are looking to hire individuals who believe in small business and the importance of local, sustainable food production.

This role will require helping the Badger Ham front office with office administrative tasks, some Food Safety documentation, and minor sales and marketing support. This candidate must be comfortable in a small business setting, where they will be asked to help with a variety of tasks and projects (vs. specializing in one job as large companies tend to operate).

We are looking to start at part-time and potentially expand into full-time as the company evolves.

Front Office Support

* Using QuickBooks to generate invoices and purchase orders and to pull sales data.

* Manage pick-up times and shipment deliveries to customers

* Using Excel for various projects, including sales data reports

* Ordering production supplies from vendors

* Providing miscellaneous paperwork required from the variety of vendors we work with (insurance providers, repair and maintenance vendors, new equipment vendors)

* Helping ensure the front office digital and physical files are in a general state of organization and cleanliness. This includes keeping the server organized.

* Aggregating industry news, data, and pork prices weekly for management

* Stock front off supplies. Maintain general office cleanliness

Food Safety Support

* Manage the calendar of ongoing food safety meetings

* Maintaining digital and physical binders of policies, vendor documents (i.e., letters of guarantee), and general paperwork required under the food safety program.

* Updating, printing, and maintaining the production forms used throughout the plant

Sales & Marketing Support

* Calling customers to verify orders or delivery times.

Overall, you will have reoccurring weekly tasks such as entering invoices, processing bills, and managing delivery times for customers. But there will always be ongoing new projects you can help with as interest or bandwidth allows; for example, reformatting a form you use to be more user friendly, researching cheaper supplies for us, or participating in a ham giveaway at a customer event.

Requirements

* Strong MS Excel and Word skills are required

* Community college coursework or a bachelor's degree preferred

* 5+ years working in an office environment

* Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft 365 tools

* Experience in manufacturing preferred. Food and beverage manufacturing is a plus

* Experience with QuickBooks Desktop or other similar accounting software is a plus
