Administrative Associate II (S)The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.This Administrative Associate II position is with the Division of Services for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing and is located in the Raleigh Regional Center. This position is responsible for providing a comfortable office environment for individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing or deaf-blind. Job responsibilities include the following:Responsible for training regarding in-house office procedures for new staffHandles end of day closing processes for the regional centerKnowledge of the programs and operations of the division that are essential to appropriately route visitors and callersResponsible for logistics and taking minutes associated with meetingsThe Division of Services for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing (DSDHH) assures equal access to North Carolina citizens who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deaf-Blind.Salary Range: $31,200 - $51,249Recruitment Range: $31,200 - $41,000Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge Skills and Abilities/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:Exceptional customer service and communication skills, including proficiency with TTY and video phone technologies to support accessible interactions.Knowledge of programs and services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, with familiarity in the Division of Services for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing and its statewide initiatives.Experience working with individuals with varying degrees of hearing loss, demonstrating respectful engagement and a foundational understanding of communication needs; basic sign language skills are preferred, with a commitment to learning if not already acquired.Strong administrative and office management abilities, including maintaining equipment and supplies, processing mail, managing filing systems, and coordinating appointments and meetings.Skilled in professional documentation and event support, such as preparing agendas, taking meeting minutes, creating calendars and flyers, drafting correspondence, and generating reports.This position will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date.The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is an Equal Opportunity Employer that embraces an Employment First philosophy, which consists of complying with all federal laws, state laws, and Executive Orders.
