Administrative Program SpecialistMission Statement of the Office of State Fire Marshal: To uphold the law and provide for the protection of life and property from the hazards of fire or explosion, to ensure the safety of our citizens in the constructed environment, to provide equal access to disabled individuals, and to promote the efficient use of energy in commercial buildings. This position will be in East Baton Rouge Parish, located in Administration. The incumbent serves as Administrative Program Specialist in the Executive Section of the Office of State Fire Marshal, Code Enforcement and Building Safety with a statewide staff of over 250 and an annual budget of $35 million. Reports to the Executive Staff Officer. An ideal candidate should possess the following competencies: Accepting Direction: The ability to be open and willing to follow guidance or instructions. Working Safely: The ability to maintain a safe work environment by following established safety rules, procedures, and practices.Minimum Qualifications: Three years of experience in administrative services; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.Job Duties: As an Administrative Program Specialist A, you will perform tasks that are critical to the mission of the Office of State Fire Marshal or similar fields and must possess effective oral/written communication skills; strong analytical skills; the ability to work independently; and effective interpersonal skills. Requires analytical, clerical, and data entry skills. Other duties may include: Coordinating program information by maintaining databases, generating reports, and ensuring information integrity; may require presentation of information in workshops, meetings, etc. Performing certification and eligibility duties as it relates to the program. Ensuring program compliance with Federal and State regulations.Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment Work Schedule: Work hours may range from 7:00 am until 5:30 pm, Monday - Friday.
