Admission Clerk - Patient Access SpecialistJoin a dedicated healthcare team as an Admission Clerk, where you will play a vital role in admitting, pre-admitting, and transferring patients within a busy medical facility located in the Central Plains region of the United States. This position requires a warm, customer-focused approach to ensure every patient, from newborns to seniors, experiences respectful and efficient service.Key ResponsibilitiesGather and verify all necessary demographic and insurance information to admit or pre-admit patients, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while maintaining a high accuracy rate.Notify financial counselors about patients with private pay or uncertain insurance coverage.Distribute admission paperwork promptly to relevant departments and staff.Assist with patient transport as needed.Collect co-pays, coinsurance, and deductibles according to insurance contracts and eligibility programs, and handle patient payments and daily deposits.Adhere strictly to privacy and security regulations concerning Protected Health Information (PHI).Education and ExperienceNo formal education or prior experience is strictly required; however, familiarity with medical terminology and previous clerical or computer experience is preferred.Skills and RequirementsBasic clerical, computer, and keyboarding skills.Effective communication abilities.Integrity and a strong sense of honesty.Compassion and empathy in patient interactions.Conflict management and customer expectation skills.Accountability and the ability to work independently with flexibility.Respectful collaboration with diverse populations.Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to lead and influence teams.Capability to manage and coach on complex projects and facilitate process improvements.This role offers competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package, providing a meaningful opportunity to contribute to exceptional patient care in a supportive environment.
