Admitting RepresentativeThis role nourishes the motivation & commitments essential to achieving BIMC mission, goals, standards, and policies in a patient centered model of care delivery system.ResponsibilitiesRole & Responsibilities:Admitting Representative – Admitting Department –Greets patients/family in courteous, professional, and caring mannerInterviews patient/family to obtain/confirm complete and accurate demographics and insurance data and enter in appropriate system; confirms patient insurance coverage and updates systemResponsible for assigning beds to admitted patients and registering patients to be admittedNotifies appropriate personnel/physician of patient's admission/transferVerifies census information with inpatient units and updates changes in census; prepares census reportsCollaborates with nurse managers/supervisors to facilitate admissions, transfers, discharges, and appropriate bed assignmentsAbility to work in a fast paced environmentQualificationsRequirements:High school diploma/G.E.D required; college degree preferredKnowledge of medical terminology1-2 years experience in medical environment and patient registration/insurance verificationKnowledge of HMO/PPO/POSExperience with EAGLE, EPIC, HMED, EPMI, Forms on DemandComputer proficiency, word processing, data entry, detail orientedExcellent organizational and customer service skills requiredBilingual a plusCollective bargaining unit: OPEIU Local 153-MSBOPEIU Local 153 at Mount Sinai Brooklyn, ABU - Admitting - BKL, Mount Sinai BrooklynRequired SkillsMicrosoft Office Suite, EpicAbout UsStrength through Unity and InclusionThe Mount Sinai Health System is committed to fostering an environment where everyone can contribute to excellence.
