Advanced Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Ortho/Med-SurgHudson, KS $32,099 - $42,099 a yearJob Type: Full TimeJob DescriptionThe Advanced Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate care to patients under the guidance of physicians and nursing staff.Essential Responsibilities:This position requires timely and accurate documentation in accordance with healthcare policies.The technician must demonstrate proficiency in unit-specific competencies, policies, and procedures to provide care for patients ranging from newborns to the elderly.Upholding patient privacy and security regulations is critical, alongside maintaining professional communication with patients, families, healthcare teams, and external agencies.Additional duties may be assigned as needed.Education and Experience:Candidates must hold certification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Home Health Aide (HHA) within the state of Kansas, or have completed at least one semester of nursing school.Licenses and Certifications:A current BLS/CPR certification from an approved provider is required within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation.Successful completion of on-the-job training in sterile technique, sterile field maintenance, instrument care/handling (including obstetrics and surgery), as well as EKG and phlebotomy training (emergency department) is mandatory.Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in a medical environment is advantageous. Additional certifications such as Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) from ASCP are preferred.Skills and Abilities:Basic to moderate computer skills are necessary, especially for telesitter duties.Effective communication, knowledge of medical terminology, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential.Compassion and empathy towards patient care are highly valued.Physical Requirements:This role involves very heavy work, occasionally lifting over 100 lbs and frequently lifting up to 50 lbs.
