Advanced Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Ortho/Med-Surg - Night ShiftSaint John, KS $32,009 - $42,099 a yearFull TimeThe Advanced Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate care under the guidance of physicians and nursing staff.Essential Responsibilities:This position requires timely and accurate documentation in line with organizational policies. You will provide patient care based on unit-specific competencies and procedures, supporting patients from newborns to the elderly. Upholding privacy and security standards for Protected Health Information (PHI) is critical. Maintaining professional communication and relationships with patients, families, healthcare teams, and external agencies is expected.General Duties:Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. This role does not include people management duties.Education and Experience:Certification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Home Health Aide (HHA) is required, including equivalent experience such as early nursing school training.Licenses and Certifications:A current BLS/CPR certification from an approved provider must be obtained within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation. Successful completion of on-the-job training in sterile technique, sterile field maintenance, instrument care (Obstetrics and Surgery), EKG, and phlebotomy (Emergency) is required.Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in a medical environment and certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) (ASCP) are advantageous.Skills and Abilities:Basic to moderate computer skills are necessary, especially for telesitter duties. Effective communication, knowledge of medical terminology, calmness under pressure, and a compassionate approach to patient care are essential.Physical Requirements:This role involves very heavy work, occasionally lifting over 100 lbs and frequently lifting up to 50 lbs.
