Nurse Practitioner Or Physician Assistant In Thoracic Surgery

Position Details:
• Full-time, 12-hour day shifts (6:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
• No call and no night coverage required
• Weekend commitment of one Saturday every four weeks
• Manage acute-care and intermediate-care thoracic surgery patients in a progressive care setting

The advanced practice provider functions within their scope of practice as a healthcare provider, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive care to patients and families. The role demonstrates a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses commonly encountered within the inpatient setting. This position demonstrates an advanced level of clinical knowledge, communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and systems-based practice. They work with administration staff, nurses, physicians, medical/surgical trainees, and other staff to assure safe, effective, quality patient care.
Provides compassionate, appropriate, and effective patient and family-centered care for health recovery, illness prevention, treatment of critically ill, or end-of-life care.
Responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, and care coordination for patients and families with acute and chronic health needs in an academic inpatient setting.
Communicates and collaborates effectively with patients, families, physicians, medical/surgical trainees, and other health professionals.
Demonstrates the highest level of accountability for professional practice by participating in professional development, quality initiative/performance activities, and implementing standards of care within area of specialization.

Minimum Requirements:
Education: Master's Degree - Nursing, Physician Assistant
Experience: Less than 2 years
Supervisor Experience: No Experience
Licenses & Certifications: Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in MO - Board certified/eligible
Preferred Requirements:
Education: Doctorate - Nursing, Physician Assistant
Experience: 2-5 years
