nJob Summary

nSeattle Children's Hospital is seeking a dedicated, patient-centered Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our dynamic Urgent Care team. In this role, you will evaluate and manage pediatric patients independently up to their 21st birthday, presenting with a wide array of acute, non-life-threatening illnesses and minor injuries.

nOperating within a collaborative, multidisciplinary, team-based environment, you will work across our Seattle Main Campus and Everett (North Campus) locations. We offer flexible FTE arrangements ranging from 0.6 to 0.9 FTE , tailored to suit your professional goals and work-life preference.

nKey Responsibilities

nnnDirect Patient Care: Provide comprehensive, high-quality clinical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients presenting with acute illnesses (e.g., flu, RSV, asthma flares, respiratory distress) and minor injuries (e.g., lacerations, sprains, suspected fractures).

nnIndependent & Collaborative Practice: Autonomously manage a fast-paced clinical patient volume while functioning as an integral member of an interprofessional Urgent Care team consisting of physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and support staff.

nnProcedures & Clinical Decision-Making: Perform minor procedures common to pediatric urgent care (such as wound closure/suturing, splinting, nasal suctioning, and simple foreign body removal). Order and interpret point-of-care lab tests and urgent diagnostic imaging.

nnVirtual Urgent Care Integration: Participate in telemedicine video visits as needed, expanding patient access across Washington State.

nnPatient & Family Education: Deliver compassionate, family-centered communication and discharge education, including advice on medication dosages (e.g., acetaminophen, ibuprofen), inhaler/spacer usage, and red-flag symptoms requiring emergency evaluation.

nnCare Coordination: Document clinical encounters promptly in the EHR and ensure continuity of care by coordinating visit summary notes with primary care providers within 24 hours of care delivery.

nOperating hours vary by location and clinic schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays (open 365 days a year):

nnnSeattle Main Campus: Monday-Friday (11:00 AM - 10:30 PM) | Saturday & Sunday (11:00 AM - 8:00 PM)

nnEverett North Campus: Monday-Friday (4:00 PM - 10:30 PM) | Saturday & Sunday (11:00 AM - 8:00 PM)

nRequired Education and Experience:

nMaster's degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program OR graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program.

nOne year work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area.

nRequired Credentials:

nFor Nurse Practitioners:

nActive, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington.

nCurrent national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner

nFor Physician Assistants:

nActive, unencumbered physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington

nInitial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants

nFor All Providers:

nActive Drug Enforcement Authority registration

nPediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

nSome clinical locations may require American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support training and continuous maintenance of certification.

nActive clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider at Seattle Children's Hospital must be secured prior to time of hire and must be maintained in good standing and in compliance with all medical staff bylaws, continuously throughout employment.

nPreferred:

nTwo years experience in advanced practice provider role

nTwo years experience in pediatric health care

nCompensation Range

n$123,589 - $181,765 per year

nThis position is currently eligible for an off-shift premium of up to 15% which would increase the total compensation of this role by an additional $18,538.39 to $27,264.82 per year.

nRelocation: Support available for qualified candidates

nNote: Compensation will be pro-rated based on final FTE

nSalary Information

nThis compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.

nThis compensation range is specific to Seattle, positions located outside of Seattle may be compensated differently depending on various factors .
