This role involves delivering direct patient care through the nursing process, demonstrating clinical expertise, and upholding the highest ethical standards in nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities
Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a secure care environment.
Manage and maintain central lines while preventing surgical site infections according to policy.
Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and educate patients and families to promote health outcomes.
Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and support clinical decision-making.
Document all patient care activities and quality measures accurately to comply with standards.
Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare team members to improve patient outcomes.
Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
Engage with patients and families promptly to enhance their experience and provide education.
Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills.
Education
Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
Experience
At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.
Requirements
Current Registered Nurse license valid in the state or through Compact Licensure.
Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Mental and Physical Demands
This position requires significant mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs, standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.
Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
