Job description
The forensic nurse examiner provides compassionate, timely medical-forensic exams following established protocols. Responsibilities include conducting exams, administering prophylaxis for pregnancy and STIs, photographic documentation, and arranging medical and psychological follow-up referrals.
They collaborate with community partners such as advocacy agencies, law enforcement, prosecutors, and protection services for vulnerable populations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program
Completion of a 40-hour IAFN or OR SATF SANE-A course
Oregon RN license upon hire
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
At least 2 years of nursing experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE-A) or Oregon Certified SANE (SANE-OR) upon hire
Key Duties:
Perform medical-forensic examinations with sensitivity and adherence to protocols
Provide prophylaxis and documentation
Facilitate referrals for ongoing care
Collaborate with community and legal partners to support victims
