Advocate, Patient Access SpecialistHolland, MN $32,099 - $42,099 a yearJob Type: Full TimeJob Summary: This role supports patients, associates, and third-party payers by efficiently managing Patient Access and Revenue Cycle responsibilities. The ideal candidate will provide a welcoming atmosphere and ensure smooth registration and communication processes.Essential Responsibilities:Greet all patients and visitors warmly, creating a positive first impression.Adhere strictly to privacy practices, HIPAA guidelines, and patient confidentiality standards.Perform accurate pre-registration and registration for all patient types, avoiding duplicate medical records or account numbers.Scan insurance cards and interpret insurance responses effectively.Obtain necessary signatures on forms and direct patients to appropriate departments.Refer self-pay patients to navigators for Medicaid or Health Exchange enrollment.Provide cost estimates to patients upon request and collect copays following guidelines.Complete general administrative tasks as assigned by supervisors.PBX Operator Duties:Operate the switchboard and manage public address announcements.Handle emergency codes, overhead paging, and contact appropriate authorities.Forward mail to discharged patients and relay messages for physicians on answering services.Contact other physicians as needed and maintain on-call documentation using Diagnotes.Manage special instructions, coverage changes, and on-call schedules, notifying supervisors of updates.Note: This description is not exhaustive and duties may evolve over time.Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent preferred.1 to 3 years of customer service, administrative, or data entry experience required.1 to 3 years of healthcare environment experience preferred.Familiarity with database software applications is desired.Vocational training or on-the-job experience with computers and switchboards is beneficial.Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare business office operations is a plus.Work Shift: Third shift, 36 hours weekly, serving a regional community in the Midwest.
